Computers can be classified as devices, where a data can be controlled with a certain set of commands. These computers have been emerged as the necessity of today's technologically evolution led world. Majority of people are depending on these computers for storing their personal information, official information, connecting with their friends and relatives, to pursue knowledge, and much more. The history of these computers can be tracked to mid twentieth century ranging from 1940 to 1945. Those inception stage computers where sized extremely large and consumed an enormous amount of power.

In recent times, these computers come in sizes which can be fitted even inside a wristwatch. There are diverse types of computers. Some of them include:

• Personal computer

• Workstation

• Minicomputer

• Mainframe

• Supercomputer

In this era of technology, it is also every individual's responsibility for proving their green credentials. This is due to the fact that global warming and climatic changes are also the other major constraints. Computer recycling is the process of reclaiming or salvaging the computers, by which it can be dismantled in a safer way and used for an entirely different purpose or in different products.

The major purpose of recycling these computers is that, they can be a source of toxins and carcinogens when they are not disposed in an appropriate manner. 75 % of personal computers are sold as excess electronics, even in recent times is the statistics arrived by U.S. National Safety Council. Another important purpose of recycling the computers are that, the materials such as tin, silicon, iron, and aluminum are present in abundance. By using these, the manufacturers can reduce the cost of creating and assembling a novel system. Most commonly, it comprises of copper and gold too.

The computer can be recycled in various manners: 1. Consumer recycling 2. Donation 3. Take back 4. Exchange and 5. Corporate recycling Consumer recycling is the process where you can donate the computers for the newly emerging organization. This will be helping those organizations in a financial way. In this process, you can also send those computers back their parent manufacturers. If you wish to donate your computer to charities, you will have the satisfaction of doing service and as well earn a tax benefits from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In recent times, many major manufacturers such as Dell and Apple obtain the used products from you.

They dismantle and service these old computers and sell it with one year warranty. IT Asset disposition is another new technology for recycling the computers, which abide by all the rules and regulations of law. While recycling your computer, you should do it in the right way and at the right people, since there are risks involved in losing your data. This may lead to identity pilfering and lead to complications in the particular corporations. There may also be financial loses, by losing your valuable credit data. Recycling your computer in a safe and secure way helps you to save the environment too.
